Millie's Teachers and Staff

In government schools, primary head teachers currently earn approximately 980,000 UGX *($288 USD) monthly, and lower primary teachers earn around 568,000 *($167USD) per month. Private schools, including Millie's Orphanage School, struggle to pay their teachers a competitive wage. Because most of Millie's students are orphans or otherwise underprivileged, the children cannot afford to pay their school fees - which is where a large part of the teachers' salaries come from.

The teachers at Millie's are dedicated, hard-working men and women who care for the children, but serving the children comes at a cost.

*You can sponsor a teacher's salary at Millie's Orphanage School in full or in part.

Chicken Coop - Income Project

Pastor Betty heads the chicken coop project, which includes chickens, rabbits, and guinea pigs. The sale of the animals helps cover some of the many costs associated with teaching and caring for nearly 250 children.

The coop has taken serious hits to its sustainability - wild dogs carrying off some of the animals, flooding, lack of feed and vaccinations...

Lunch Program

In November 2016, there was fighting between the Rwenzururu Kingdom and Ugandan government forces in the town of Kasese. Millie's Orphanage School brought many orphans into their care. They continue fulfilling the call of our Heavenly Father to "Take up the cause of the fatherless..."

Limited resources make providing three meals a day very challenging.

Three meals of beans, rice, and posho costs about $1 usd/day. Often the children eat one meal a day. You can help Millie's put food in the bellies of the children.

Bishop Moses and Pastor Betty

Bishop Moses and his wife, Betty, also serve the  wider Kasese community, including supporting the work of his friend, Lt. Agustus Tumwebaze, in the AIDS village in Kyanjuki. Whenever possible, they share provisions, encouragement, and the love of Jesus with many in remote villages in the foothills of the Rwenzori mountains - women and children, elderly, disabled, displaced, outcasts...They live their lives to serve in the name of their Lord.
